Acted as legal expert and focal point for the intergovernmental negotiation (open to <\/span>192 Member States)<\/span> <\/strong>of these new standard-setting instruments:<\/strong> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

1) UNESCO <\/strong><\/span>Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

It was adopted by the General Conference on 17 October 2003 and has currently 161 States Parties<\/span><\/p>\n

Key issues: identification, safeguarding, governance of intangible cultural heritage, k<\/span>now-how\u00a0 \u00a0

<\/div>\n <\/span><\/p>\n

2) UNESCO Declaration concerning the Intentional Destruction of Cultural Heritage<\/strong><\/p>\n

It was adopted by the General Conference on 17 October 2003 <\/span><\/p>\n

Key issues: intentional destruction as growing threat, state responsibility, peace time and armed conflict situations, treaty and customary international law, conflict of laws, property law

<\/div>\n

3) UNESCO Draft Principles relating to Cultural Objects Displaced in Relation to the Second World War<\/strong><\/p>\n

Key issues: state responsibility, spoliations, looting, export, peace treaties, treaty and customary international law, conflict of laws, property law

<\/div>\n

4) He designed and negotiated for UNESCO the Model Export Certificate for Cultural Objects adopted by UNESCO and the World Customs Organization<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

5) Experience in treaty-making also from the national perspective: acted as Italian Delegate to the intergovernmental negotiation of the 2001 UNESCO Underwater Cultural Heritage Convention<\/strong> (law of the sea, maritime law, salvage law, law of finds, protection in situ and in other forms)

6) Earlier experience in treaty-making: Secr\u00e9taire-r\u00e9dacteur<\/em> – Precis-writer <\/strong>of the following International Organizations during their Diplomatic Conferences where Member States negotiated and adopted uniform law treaties:<\/p>\n
